Wine Tour 01/16/2010

Our El Dorado wine tour on 1/16/10 was a fabulous fellowship event!  24 of us left Davis

via a small coach venturing to our 1st winery, Narrowgate Vineyards owned by Frank (UCD

graduate & winemaker) & Teena Hildebrand.  Frank spent quality time with us explaining

his "hands on" techniques & the management of their vineyards.

We then went to Holly's Hill owned by Tom & Holly Cooper (long time Davis family).  

They were there to greet us as well as their son-in-law, Josh Bendick (UCD graduate

& co-winemaker along with the Cooper's daughter, Carrie (UCD Extension).  We were

able to enjoy probably the best view in El Dorado county as shown in Sunday's Sac

 Bee!  We continued on to Miraflores, whose winemaker, Marco Cappelli is also a UCD

graduate.  Because we were delayed due to a bus breakdown, the manager of Miraflores

greeted us with a huge spread of cheeses, crackers, tapanade to cheer us on!

Cafe Luna

We then dined at Cafe Luna in Placerville with owners, David & Gary, very good friends of

Jacque & Wayne.  They kept the price extremely low to make Jacque happy...appetizers,

soup, salad, three choices of entrees, dessert, wine, Pepsi for Bruce Gallaudet  ...all

for $50 per guest!
