Local Community Service Projects
Davis Rotary's first local community project was building the now-historic Boy Scout Cabin at 1st and G Sts. More recent projects include rehabilitating a house used by Davis Community Meals as temporary housing for homeless families; work at the UC Davis Arboretum's Redwood Grove and Wyatt Pavilion; and landscaping at Highway 113/Covell Blvd. Ongoing projects include an annual scholarship and teacher awards program for Davis high schools and junior high schools, and providing volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels every week. Plans are underway for landscaping the new Pence Gallery in downtown Davis--this will be Davis Rotary's' official Centennial Project, in honor of RI's 100th anniversary in 2005.
