Welcome to the Rotary Club of Davis Web Site

Greetings from the President

Dear Davis Rotarians:

It is truly a privilege and an honor to have been selected to be the 2010-2011 president of the Rotary Club of Davis.  I’m excited about working with Rotarians in our club, throughout District 5160, and worldwide to further important goals of our great service organization.

Ray Klinginsmith of the Rotary Club of Kirksville, Missouri, is the 2010-2011 Rotary International President.  He decided the theme this year should fulfill two objectives:  1) to explain Rotary to non-Rotarians, and 2) to validate our work for Rotarians.  The words he selected to describe Rotary's current mission and to highlight our achievements are what we do best:  Building Communities ¾ Bridging Continents. "

Our club has accomplished so much over the years:  child abuse prevention and awareness, polio eradication efforts, drilling water wells in Africa, sponsoring wheelchairs, artificial hands recently in Ecuador, helping needy children at a school in Mexico, building a dairy barn in Peru and stocking it with cows, rebuilding homes after Mother Nature’s disasters….the list just goes on and on.  There is a lot more work to be done and I’m looking forward to many projects this year and in the coming years.

We all need to be out there recruiting enthusiastic new members who would be an asset to our club. I want to encourage all current members to get more involved by volunteering for hands-on service projects, and helping raise money for local and international projects.  Rotary does so many important projects locally and internationally, and these projects need willing hands and willing hearts.

Rotary is such an awesome organization and it’s rumored that once polio is totally eradicated (only four more countries) we might receive the Nobel Peace Prize, what other organization can say that?  My life has been changed because of Rotary and I hope it can change yours too.  Remember, the future of Rotary is in all of our hands!!
