Child Abuse Prevention Program

The Rotary Club of Davis is working with our community to help prevent child abuse.  Our program, which began in 1999 by Rotarian Bud Wolf, has been very effective in raising awareness about child abuse.  And has also contributed thousands of dollars to several organizations specializing in child abuse prevention. 

An estimated 872,000 children were victims of child abuse or neglect in 2004 (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2006). While physical injuries may or may not be immediately visible, abuse and neglect can have consequences for children, families, and society that last lifetimes, if not generations.  These kind of statistics are alarming!  We as a community can help lower the number of abuse cases by getting involved.

"Big Night"

On January 17, 2009 our club held its

Annual Child Abuse Prevention Fundraiser

"Big Night" was held this year at the

Vizcaya Hotel in Sacramento

This year’s event was nothing short of Spectacular.  With the help of so many generous donations, the sale of dinner tickets and an incredible auction, we raised over $50,000 this year.  All of the proceeds went directly to local non-profit organizations dedicated to child abuse prevention.  We are happy to announce this was the best year yet for us.  We are very thankful to the many volunteers who made this great event so successful.  Here are some of the wonderful sponsors who contributed to this year's success:
