Here is a message from President Dave Macko:

Yolo County's Health Officer strongly recommends that all community organizations, schools, religious organizations, and other entities and event planners cancel any non-essential large gatherings.

I believe it is prudent to  suspend attendance of our weekly meetings and reassess on or before June 1st.  Future meetings will be based on further recommendations following the Yolo County Health Officer's reassessment.

Welcome to the ROTARY CLUB OF DAVIS.

GREETINGS FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Davis Rotarians:

When I was asked to lead our Davis Rotary Club I knew it would be both a challenge and an opportunity and I was honored to accept.  The world-wide pandemic has changed many aspects of our lives since then, including our Club.  One thing that has not changed is being President will still be challenging and many opportunities remain, only in ways unforeseen just a few months ago.

Rotarians worldwide are making adjustments to how their clubs operate, engage members, and provide service to their communities.  Our Club is no different.

We’ve learned it to be challenging to provide a meaningful Rotary experience while meeting remotely.  We’ve identified an opportunity to examine our routines and make adjustments and improvements that will enhance the remote experience and endure when we’re back meeting in person.

It has been a challenge to maintain our high standard of community service presence in Davis when our Club has many members in higher risk categories. Yet it’s an opportunity for those, who are able, to increase our in-person efforts. For those unable to participate in-person, we find new and innovative ways to remotely support our community service work.

Another challenge we face is attracting new members and retain existing members when the full membership experience cannot be offered.  The opportunity exists for each member to look for new and rewarding ways to remain involved and promote the Club.

We’re are living through a challenging time and the Rotary Club of Davis has embraced these unique challenges and opportunities before us to make our Club better and stronger because of it.

David Macko

President, 2020-2021
